Harbor Optics will no longer accept Davis Vision insurance because of COVID. They will let you in for an eye exam if you pay cash but not if you have the largest provider of eye insurance in the city. So you firemen and cops that are covered and want to make an appointment for an eye exam for you and the kids find another place because these scumbags wont take you.

Paid double what I'd been paying for an eye exam here -- it wasn't worth it. I made it very clear I was going in for a new contact and eyeglass prescription (i.e., an eye exam). But they spent so much effort trying to sell me things (contacts/new glasses etc.) they didn't even give me the eyeglass Rx when I left (the form only had the contact Rx). I had to call them and ask about it later. Then when they sent me the Rx they didn't include the PD on the form -- they'd left that part blank, so I had to go through yet another step after I ordered glasses at Moscot with their Rx. My advice: Try to focus on eye care if someone's coming in for an eye exam. If I want to buy your lame glasses, I'll do that. But I need the Rx first and foremost.

There is a great selection of frames. I was lucky enough to get a priority appointment and have my glasses made up the same day. Great service and would definitely recommend it to anyone.

These people are the worst! A couple of years ago, I switched jobs and lost my insurance benefits with it so I bought a low-cost insurance until I figured things out. In that time my family and I visited Harbor Optics with no issues. After the pandemic started, I received a letter from them stating that they could no longer take my not-so-great insurance and that they apologized for the inconvenience. I couldnt wrap my head around why a business would refuse patients at a time like that. So I concluded that they were sifting out the disposables. This was our family optical so we felt abandoned when we needed it the most. Right around that time, my son needed replacement glasses so beyond everything that was going on, I had to research new opticals. Get used to new staff/doctors/commute etc. It was not easy, but we managed to find a family practice that is a good fit for us through recommendations. Fast forward to now, and I have received multiple phone calls from Harbor Optics asking us to come in for a check up. They must have figured out that I have great insurance again. Uhm, no thanks! Definitely wont take my business where financial gain is the ONLY thing that matters. That is how you lose them. To their current patients, I hope you are happy with their service, but know that if you have to downgrade your insurance for whatever reason; loss of job, divorce, death, whatever, you will be the first to go when they have to make arrangements. Again, that is not the type of business I support and I work in the medical field, and know there are ways to help your patients if you really wanted to. The audacity they have calling after how they treated us. GTFOHWTS and STOP CALLING US ALREADY!!!!
